Middletown district approves teachers’ contract

The Middletown school board has approved a three-year teachers’ contract.

There are no raises in the 2012-2013 year, 1 percent in 2013-2014 and 1.5 percent in 2014-2015, said school Superintendent Ken Eastwood.

“This is a good contract,” he said. “It also shows the teachers’ understanding of the school district and the community’s fiscal condition.”

Health-insurance contributions will stay the same at about 8 percent; Eastwood said they didn’t increase this due to the pay freeze and because contributions went up in the last contract.
