The first of two planned public hearings on the Town of Wallkill and the City of Middletown’s planned Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wallkll Town Hall.
The plan is meant to identify and prepare for hazards such as drainage, flooding risks and catastrophic power outages, said Wallkill Supervisor Dan Depew. They need a plan in place to be able to apply for federal hazard mitigation funds, and are looking for public input on potential hazards. The Middletown meeting will be at City Hall on Feb. 5.
