Middletown shortens timeframe on graffiti

Property owners in Middletown will now have to remove graffiti from their property within seven days, rather than 15, of receiving a notice or face a fine.

Property owners will have to cover the graffiti within three days of a notice, however. Public Works Commissioner Jacob Tawil had requested the change — he had originally asked the timeframe for removal be cut to three days — saying that this would make it easier to crack down on properties owned by banks or absentee landlords that don’t answer the city’s notices anyway.
