Tuition is going up $300 a year, but the amount Orange County spends is the same in the 2013-2014 SUNY Orange budget.
Tuition will be $4,400 a year now. The overall budget is up about $1.2 million, to $59.2 million, said college spokesman Mike Albright. The county share is the same at $17.6 million; state aid is up $150 per student.
Albright said the college has been dealing with increasing health insurance and pension costs by trimming where they can, finding ways to share services with the county and other colleges, leaving positions open for at least eight weeks before filling them and cutting energy use.
Enrollment is expected to dip slightly this year, as it did last year, as the college sees more part-time and fewer full-time students.
SUNY Orange has a main campus in Middletown and a smaller one in Newburgh.
