Middletown’s new Dairy Queen Grill and Chill will be opening in mid-October.
They have already started hiring, said owner Don Frost, and will start employee training around Oct. 1. He said he plans to hire about 65 people.
The restaurant is on James P. Kelly Way, between the Dolson Avenue QuickChek and the Sterling Park apartments. The project will cost about $2 million to build; the city’s office of Economic and Community Development provided a $50,000 loan.
There are more than 6,000 Dairy Queens now; there used to be one in Middletown that closed years ago. This one will be larger than the old one, with an indoor sit-down eating area.
