The Town of Wawayanda’s tax levy would decrease about 10 percent in the proposed 2014 budget.
The combined general fund and highway tax levies would drop from about $1.2 million to about $1 million. The general and highway funds would be about $3.16 million combined, a slight drop from 2013. (Various revenues fund the rest.)
The town held a fall cleanup for the first time this year; other than that, there are no programmatic changes, and no layoffs either, said Supervisor John Razzano. All of the town’s employees and elected officials would get 3 percent raises. This is the eighth year in a row the tax levy has dropped, Razzano said. The town tax rate has also dropped in each of those years, according to Orange County records.
The public hearing on the budget will be at 7 p.m. on Nov. 7 at the town hall, 80 Ridgebury Hill Road.
