This is good news for people who enjoy whiskey and/or beer, courtesy the Catskill Distilling Company:
Catskill Distilling Company of Bethel and Brewery Ommegang of Cooperstown have struck an exclusive deal for the distillery to produce a malt whiskey using Hennepin mash, from the brewery’s Belgian-style beer production. Hennepin mash is spiced with grains of paradise, coriander, sweet orange peel, and ginger.
Again, good news. Ommegang makes terrific beer (Hennepin is very good). The whiskey has no release date, but it should be a little while, of course, as Catskill surely wants to age the product.
