Larry Campbell honored by Americana Music Association

Larry Campbell was named Instrumentalist of the Year by the Americana Music Association at its annual Honors & Awards event.

The Woodstock resident, who for years was Levon Helm’s sideman and is now a major cog with the Dirt Farmer Band, was presented the award by Jerry Douglas.

Campbell was also part of the house band at the awards event, performing with Don Was, Marco Giovino, John Deaderick, Jim Hoke and the McCrary Sisters.

“Austin City Limits” will broadcast an edited special of the awards Nov. 23.

Our Ulster Magazine profiled Campbell in the Nov/Dec 2011 issue.
