Brogan Kavanagh of Newburgh brought home the first gold medal from the tri-county region at the Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid.
Kavanagh won the junior ladies figure skating program held in the Olympic Center.

Six local skaters to compete at ESG Winter Games
The annual Empire State Winter Games will be held in Lake Placid from Feb. 22-24.
ESG officials say the rosters will be posted online by Feb. 15.
One sport which has released a tentative roster is figure skating.
