Boehner headlining Gibson fundraiser in Sullivan County

House Speaker John Boehner is scheduled to be the guest of honor at a fundraiser Cablevision founder Alan Gerry and his wife, Sandra, are holding for Rep. Chris Gibson, R-Kinderhook, at The CVI Building in Ferndale next Tuesday.

Gibson’s campaign emailed the invitation to supporters on Tuesday, accompanied by a letter from Gibson that cited a recent New York Times article about a “near billionaire” who may challenge him in 2014. (That “near billionaire” would be Sean Eldridge, a venture capitalist and husband of Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes.) Gibson said the Sullivan County event would help him “raise the funds I need to rebut the negative attacks we know are coming and win decisively again.”

Gibson, a retired Army colonel and former West Point instructor first elected to Congress in the Republican wave of 2010, beat Democrat Julian Schreibman of Kingston — a former Ulster County Democratic chairman — to win a second term in 2012. He represents New York’s 19th Congressional District, a broad swath of territory that includes Ulster and Sullivan counties.

Fundraiser ticket prices range from $250 to $2,600 per person. Here’s the invitation:
