Gomez to announce judge candidacy

Lawyer Kevin Gomez plans to announce his candidacy for Orange County Family Court judge tonight.

Gomez, of Middletown, is vice chairman of the Latino National Republican Coalition of New York State. He has a law office on East Main Street in the Town of Wallkill. He is the first Latino to run for the job in Orange County, said Ruben Estrada, head of the LNRC.

Current family court judge Andrew Bivona is retiring at the end of 2014. Christine Krahulik, who like Gomez is a Republican and who is currently a support magistrate in both Orange and Westchester counties, also plans to run for the seat.

Gomez’s kickoff announcement will be at 7 p.m. at Middletown City Hall, in the Common Council chambers on the second floor.
