Metzger starts hike-bike-kayak tour of Senate district

State Sen. Jen Metzger is inviting constituents to join her on a hike in Wurtsboro on Monday, the first in a series of multi-modal jaunts she plans to take in the 42nd Senate District this summer to highlight the abundance of outdoor recreational sites in the Hudson Valley and Catskills.

ā€œIā€™m excited to share with community members my love for outdoor recreation and appreciation for the incredible natural bounty of our district,ā€ the Rosendale Democrat said in a statement.

The inaugural event is an hour-long hike along the D & H Canal Linear Trail in the Village of Wurtsboro in Sullivan County, with participants meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the McDonald Road Bridge. Metzger plans to have coffee with constituents afterward at the Wurtsboro Community Church at 134 Sullivan St., starting at 1:20 p.m.

Future legs of Metzger’s “Summer ā€˜19 Hike, Bike, & Kayak Tour” include bike rides on the Orange County Heritage Trail at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and on the Rosendale Rail Trail at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Visit her Facebook page for more information.
