Two of Burke Catholic’s talented guards, Coffey and Longmire, break it down

Just in case John S. Burke Catholic didn’t have enough guards, Monroe-Woodbury sharpshooter Mike Coffey transferred in this season.

Coffey is, seemingly, getting more comfortable every game – especially from long range. In case your keeping score at home, the Eagles now have six talented guards: Coffey, Patrick Joyner, Jesse Longmire, Monroe’s Jack Dwyer, a transfer from St. Benedict’s in Newark, N.J., Kyle Smith and Mike Kelly.

We talked with two of Burke Catholic’s guards at practice this week: Someone new: Coffey. And a veteran: Longmire, who played on Burke Catholic’s Class B state championship team two years ago.

Burke Catholic plays Jersey power Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) on Sunday at West Point. The Eagles could take control of OCIAA Division III with wins over Port Jervis and six-time defending champ Cornwall next week.
