Eastern States Classic: Cuccolo makes finals

Pine Bush junior Chris Cuccolo defeated Holley Central’s Andrew Flanagan 6-2 to advance to the Eastern States Classic 99-pound final.

Cuccolo, the only semifinalist from Section 9, scored two back points with 1:12 left in the second period to take a 2-0 lead over Flanagan, the top seed.

Flanagan was penalized for a technical violation with 34 seconds left. The two wrestlers traded two-point moves late in the third period.

Cuccolo controlled the match from the start and earned a well-deserved victory. He will face Wayne senior Jake Yankloski in the final.
