Rusek wins Section 9 diving title; video

MONTGOMERY — Two weeks ago, Nick Rusek nearly broke the Section 9 record on the diving board, a mark that has stood since 1992.

He didn’t get that close on Thursday night, but he did win a Section 9 championship and lead Warwick to a sweep of the top four spots on the podium.

Rusek, a Warwick sophomore, scored 486.15 points to win the Section 9 championship. He was followed by a trio of Warwick seniors: Brian Green (417.80), Chris Deaver (415.50) and Brendan Leahy (401.10) atop the podium.
