Video: The Gilmour brothers (Kena and Aden) talk after Goshen win

For most of the season, New Paltz players and fans have told me on Twitter (@justinrod845) and during my Varsity 845 boys’ basketball chats about sophomore swingman Kena Gilmour.

Finally, on Thursday night, I had the opportunity to see Gilmour play – and he was as good as advertised. Gilmour scored 20 points in New Paltz’s 74-45 blowout win over Goshen in the Section 9 tournament Class A semifinals.

What do I like about Kena? He can handle the ball, run the floor, shoot and is full of energy. Look forward to watching him develop over the next two years.

“He had an amazing game,” New Paltz senior guard Austin Stewart said of Gilmour. “He showed everything tonight. In a couple of years, he will be great, he will be the top player in the league.”

In the Goshen win, Devon Shaw put up 17 points, doing work in the paint. Kena’s older brother, Aden, added 16. New Paltz takes on top-seeded John S. Burke Catholic for the championship at noon Saturday at SUNY New Paltz.
