Burke Catholic rallies to force OT but falls to McKinley in state Class A title game: VIDEO

GLENS FALLS – John S. Burke Catholic’s boys’ basketball team suffered another heartbreaking loss in the state final four at the Glens Falls Civic Center, this time in the Class A championship game against McKinley of Buffalo.

Burke Catholic trailed by as many as nine points in the fourth quarter, but rallied to force overtime. McKinley, however, pulled it out in the extra four minutes, winning 76-73.

Burke Catholic won a Class B state title in 2011, but the Eagles were nipped at the buzzer by Watervliet last season, 48-47, in a semifinal game.

This year, Burke Catholic was moved up to play in Class A and were oh-so-close to taking another state championship back to Goshen.

In the video above, you’ll find game highlights as well as players Stan Buczek and Jack Dwyer and head coach Doug Janeczko talking about Sunday’s game.

Justin Rodriguez and Kevin Gleason will have full coverage from the game in Monday’s Times Herald-Record.
