Live Section 9 semifinals results

Cornwall junior Ernesto Dillon and James I. O’Neill sophomore Davis Fleming advanced to the Section 9 final Tuesday at Match Point Tennis in Goshen.

Dillon and Fleming will play for the fourth time this season. Dillon defeated Fleming twice in the regular season and in the OCIAA final. All scores have been 6-1, 6-2.

Newburgh Free Academy eighth-grader Tyler Reede pushed Dillon in a semifinal. Dillon fought off two break points at 4-4 to defeat Reede 6-3, 6-4.

Cornwall seniors Matt Anastasi and Sam Lawyer are one win away from defending their section doubles title.

Anastasi and Lawyer have lost just two games in three tournament matches. They will Newburgh Free Academy’s Jacques Laine and Danny Parris in final. Anastasi and Lawyer defeated Laine and Parris 6-4, 6-3 in an OCIAA semifinal last week.

Final: Jacques Laine-Danny Parris (Newburgh Free Academy) d. Matt Anastasi-Sam Lawyer (Cornwall) 6-3, 6-3.
Consolation final: Andy Hu-Dan Stevenson (Monroe-Woodbury) d. John Ackerman-Jay Gohel (Roosevelt) 6-3, 6-4.
