MONTGOMERY — The Warwick-Valley Central boys’ lacrosse series had featured some instant classics over the last two seasons. Valley Central won on the road in the 2012 Section 9 Class A semifinals with a goal in the final minute of regulation. Earlier this season, Valley Central beat Warwick in overtime, 9-8.
The teams met again on a rainy Friday night in the 2013 Section 9 Class A semifinals, but this one wasn’t nearly as close.
Warwick’s Aaron Ackerman scored five goals and Brian Connolly added three goals and two assists as No. 3 Warwick topped No. 2 Valley Central, 12-4.
Check out the video above for highlights and interviews with Ackerman, Connolly and Warwick defenseman Brandon Donnellan. Pick up Saturday’s paper for a story about the game.
The Section 9 boys’ lacrosse championship game schedule is set. The games will be played on Tuesday, May 28 at Faller Field on the campus of Middletown High School.
No. 1 Cornwall vs. No. 2 Wallkill, 4 p.m.
No. 1 Rondout Valley vs. No. 2 Red Hook, 6 p.m.
No. 1 Minisink Valley vs. No. 3 Warwick, 8 p.m.
I plan to have a little preview of the championship games in Tuesday’s paper, so keep your eyes peeled for that. I also hope to do some live tweeting from the games, so check out my Twitter feed here: @THR_Montgomery.
