MIDDLETOWN — Section 9 crowned three champions in boys’ lacrosse on a rainy Tuesday night at Faller Field.
In Class B, Cornwall, in its first season as a varsity program, defeated Wallkill, 15-8.
In Class C, Red Hook upset undefeated No. 1 Rondout Valley, 7-5. It was Red Hook’s sixth straight Section 9 title.
In Class A, Minisink Valley won its second straight Section 9 title with a 10-7 win over Warwick.
The Section 9 champions all have a bye in the first round of the state playoffs. They’ll play again on Saturday against the winners of playoff games between the Section 1 & 2 champions.
Check out those links for the game stories or the video above for some highlights and interviews with Brandon Fienco and Ryan Donovan (Cornwall) and Jake Levins and Joey Sessa (Minisink Valley).
Our Ken McMillan also caught up with Newburgh Free Academy senior Austin Stewart, who was named an academic all-american on Tuesday.
Stewart earned a presidential scholarship from Clemson University, where he plans to study biomedical engineering and play on the school’s club-level lacrosse team.
