The German Embassy in Washington, D.C. is sponsoring a program called the German Soccer Adventure and it’ll be landing in our backyard next week.
On Tuesday, Ellenville High School will be the site of a skills challenge. Winners of the competition will receive an FC Bayern jersey and all participants will receive a certificate signed by Paul Breitner, who won a World Cup with Germany in 1974.
It’s designed to give local soccer players a tune-up for the upcoming season by improving their skills, but it’s also an opportunity to learn a bit of the German language and about German culture.
The skills challenge runs from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and is open to boys and girls ages 12 to 16.
It’s a part of Ellenville’s co-ed summer soccer camp, which runs from Monday to Thursday at the school. I’ve included links to flyers with more information below.
