Monroe-Woodbury and Goshen boys prep for state semifinals on Saturday

I caught up with the Monroe-Woodbury and Goshen boys’ soccer teams on Tuesday at the tail end of their frigid practices. Both teams play in state semifinal games at Middletown High School on Saturday. The winners of those games advance to state championship games at Middletown on Sunday.

Check out the video above for some interviews with players from both teams. I caught up with the Monroe-Woodbury defenders to ask about how they’ve allowed just eight goals through 19 games this season. At Goshen, I had to ask the players about the crazy-looking haircuts they’ve been sporting for the past few weeks.

Check out Friday’s Times Herald-Record for stories on both schools and what they’re looking forward to this weekend at Faller Field. I’ll have a more general tournament preview (with a full schedule) in Saturday’s paper.

Of course, I’ll be covering both games on Saturday. In case you can’t make it to the games, I’ll be providing live updates on and Twitter: @THR_Montgomery. As I’ve done in previous years, I’ll also open up a new blog post where I’ll bring you scores and updates throughout the tournament on both Saturday and Sunday.

If you missed it earlier this week, I did a big preview blog for the state tournament. Click here to check it out.
