This hasn’t been just a big season for quarterbacks, it’s been the best ever.
Indeed, in Section 9 it has been the year of the quarterback. The list of dangerous quarterbacks is deep and impressive. Want a sampling?
There is Monroe-Woodbury’s Kevin Carr, Mike White of Cornwall and Marlboro’s Ryan Cary. And, hey, look who we lined up for an interview together on Wednesday: It’s Carr, White and Cary:
Of course, the talented list of quarterbacks in Section 9 doesn’t stop with this threesome. There is – among others – Warwick’s Brad Garcia, Donovan Fields of Newburgh and Kingston’s Pat Dorrian.
Meanwhile, Wallkill’s Joe Pillitteri set the Section 9 record for passing yards in a season, and lit up the exceptional senior all-star game.
All of them have had big years. White, Carr and Cary have all led their teams’ to the semifinals of the state football playoffs, along with another talented signal caller, Vinny Aloi of Chester. For sure, this has been the year of the quarterback in Section 9, providing us an exciting look at the best lineup at the position in history.
Like star quarterbacks before them, this group did their work on center stage, with the help of steady offensive linemen and dangerous skill players. There is always pressure on the signal caller. A quarterback has to be the total package. With the help of talented teammates’ this group has made it the year of the quarterback in Section 9.
