V845 top 10 rankings: Dec. 20 edition

1. Newburgh (3-0): I can’t wait until guard Donchevell Nugent starts heating up so I can take to Twitter regularly about the Don(chevell) and Don(ovan) Fields backcourt. Check me out on Twitter @justinrod845.
2. Middletown (2-1): The Middies needed junior swingman Marlon Adams to step up this season and he has. Adams is averaging 10 points and 10 rebounds.
3. Kingston (3-1): Super sophomore alert – as many expected, Kingston guard Anthony Gaines seems poised for a breakout year.
4. Burke Catholic (1-1): He can shoot the 3-pointer, drive through traffic and isn’t afraid to sacrifice his body. No wonder Burke Catholic guard Mike Coffey is one of the most entertaining players to watch in Section 9.
5. Marlboro (3-0): Junior center Tyler Banks and his signature ’fro off to a great start. He’s averaging 13 points and developing a 3-point shot.
6. Saugerties (1-0): College scouts can get a good two-for-one recruiting trip if they venture to Saugerties – home of swingman Paton Gibbs and point guard Darnell Edge.
7. Wallkill (2-1): The Panthers will likely blow away their win total from last season – three – in early January.
8. Warwick (3-2): Still some work to do, but a good week for Warwick and Heisman Trophy runner-up Brad Garcia (kidding!). Warwick beat Monroe-Woodbury and played Burke Catholic tough.
9. Cornwall (3-2): Super shooter Joe McConville can shoot it from the parking line. Or, at least, that’s what @RenoXIV wrote to me on Twitter. Great line, had to steal it.
10. New Paltz (1-0): With feisty guard C.J. Burke leading the charge, New Paltz makes the MHAL all the more deep.
