State tennis second-day results

Cornwall senior Ernesto Dillon dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision to second-seeded Taiyo Hamanaka of Eastchester in a state quarterfinal but is still alive in the medal round at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows.

Dillon, who defeated Pittsford Mendon’s Matt Renzi 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 16, could place as high as fourth when action resumes at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Roosevelt’s John Ackerman and Dan Considine recorded the only other Section 9 win on the day. Ackerman and Considine defeated Peru’s Patrick Demarais and Chase Boyer 6-0, 6-0 in a first-round consolation.
