The Varsity845 girls’ swimming and diving weekly page will make its debut on Saturday. The swim page will be a regular Saturday feature throughout the fall season.

This week, I caught up with Valley Central senior Kaitlyn Troy, who’s got big goals for her final high school season.

Next Saturday, look for the story of the Kingston High team, which has gone the extra mile so far in practices this year, as they’re also thinking big about the 2014 season.

There are some interesting meets on tap next week. Monroe-Woodbury visits Minisink Valley on Monday. It’s a non-league meet, so it won’t count in either team’s division rankings, but it should go down to the wire as to which team can win.

Next Friday, Sept. 19, Kingston hosts Washingtonville in a key Division I meet. We’ll see what happens over the rest of the season, but right now it looks like Monroe-Woodbury, Kingston and Washingtonville are all going to contend for the division title.

We’re just a handful of meets into the season, but we already have a pair of state meet qualifiers in Monroe-Woodbury’s Taylor Stalnaker and Troy of VC, who both qualified in the 100 backstroke. Plenty more state qualifiers to come in the weeks ahead.
