NFA’s Forbes, Dubose and Gonzalez get offers from Division II AIC

Two former Newburgh basketball stars, Donovan “The Don” Fields and Ja’kwan “Slinky” Jones, went to Concord Prep in North Carolina last year in a package two-for-one package.

This year, there is a potential star-studded three-for-one Newburgh deal in the works. According to Newburgh coach Bill Bianco, star running backs Anthony Dubose and Aaron Forbes bruising offensive tackle Tyler Gonzalez – all seniors – have received full athletic scholarship offers from Division II American International College. AIC, located in Springfield, Mass., costs about $45,000 annually.

“This is a really big deal,” Bianco said. “It’s nice to know that these kids are going to be taken care of. AIC is a great school and this could mean a lot to them and their families. I’m really happy for them.”

None of the players verbally committed to AIC and Forbes may have bigger fish to fry. He already has offers from Lafayette, a Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) school, and Division II Assumption College. He is also being recruited by Army, which visited Forbes at his home last week.

Still, AIC’s offer to three Goldbacks is another great compliment to Newburgh’s program.

AIC went 8-3 this season. Led by senior quarterback Kevin Arduino, a Cornwall graduate, AIC lost to C.W. Post-Long Island 58-25 in the Northeast-10 Conference championship.
