Clifford fourth at state diving championships

Minisink Valley junior Erin Clifford placed fourth at the state diving championships on Friday at Ithaca College with a score of 480.55. Clifford had placed fifth in the state as a sophomore.

New Paltz senior Caroline Murphy placed fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in the swimming finals on Saturday, swimming a time of 56.58. Murphy also placed 15th in the 50 freestyle and led New Paltz’s 200 medley relay team to a seventh-place finish.

Washingtonville junior Katie Smolar placed eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:53.84) and was 11th in the 500 freestyle (5:05.69).
