The upcoming OCIAA and Section 9 boys tennis tournaments will crown a new singles champion.
Newburgh Free Academy senior Tyler Reede, who captured titles in both tournaments last spring, has left the team per coach Dennis Maher. Reede wasn’t in Newburgh Free Academy’s lineup against Cornwall Monday in a matchup of unbeaten teams.
The 2016 Varsity 845 tennis player of the year, Reede was 23-1 as a junior after returning from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which caused him to miss his sophomore season.
The OCIAA championships are May 17-19 at Match Point Tennis. The Section 9 championships at May 23-24 at Match Point.
