2017 MHAL boys tennis first day results

New Paltz sophomore Issac Cheruiyot’s quest to win his second straight MHAL doubles title remains alive.

Cheruiyot and Noah Kalus advanced to the MHAL semifinals with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Spackenkill’s Colin Smith and Eric Choi (Spackenkill) 6-1, 6-2. Cheruiyot won the doubles championship and placed third in Section 9 with Alessandro Mauceri last season. He and Kalus plays Marlboro’s Charles Benfer and Yazeed Haidaoui in the semifinals at noon Tuesday at Bard College.

Benfer and Haidaoui survived a three-setter against Spackenkill’s Alex Ristic and John Conti 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
