2017 OCIAA girls tennis early round doubles results

Defending champions Jackie Grundfast and Ava Ghobadian defeated teammates Gabby Donohue and Samantha Killin 6-2, 7-5 to advance to the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association semifinals at Match Point Tennis in Goshen.

Grundfast and Ghobadian, the top seed, will meet teammates Uliana Kitar and Stephanie Menoutis, the fourth seed, at 10 a.m. Friday at Match Point. Kitar and Menoutis beat Newburgh Free Academy’s Sadie McNair and Deeya Modhwadiya (Newburgh), the No. 5 seed 7-5, 6-4.

Newburgh’s Isabelle Goings-Perrot and Riddhi Patel will play Cornwall’s Marina Blumenschein and Meg Nielsen will play in the other semifinal. Goings-Perrot and Patel, the second seed, defeated seventh-seeded Ali Dratch and Bianca Harris of Valley Central in three sets 6-1, 2-6, 6-2. Blumenschein and Nielsen, the third seed, topped sixth-seeded Kristina Stevanovic and Lindsey Tobey of Monroe-Woodbury 7-5, 6-1.
