2017 Section 9 girls tennis final results

Washingtonville freshman Jalynn Balleste came back from 3-2 down in the first set to win her first Section 9 singles titles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Kingston eighth-grader Lila Shih Freeman.

Valley Central’s Ali Dratch and Bianca Harris, a wild-card team, defeated top-seeded Jackie Grundfast and Ava Ghobadian 6-1, 6-4 to capture their first section doubles title.

Consolation final: Shirali Patel (Cornwall) d. Maeve Cassidy (Monroe-Woodbury) 6-2, 6-2.
Semifinals: Balleste (Washingtonville) d. Patel (Cornwall) 7-6 (7-4), 6-0; Freeman (Kingston) d. Cassidy (Monroe-Woodbury) 7-6 (7-4), 6-1
Doubles
Final: Ali Dratch-Bianca Harris (Valley Central) d. Jackie Grundfast-Ava Ghobadian (Warwick) 6-1, 6-4.
Consolation final: Marina Blumenschein (Cornwall) d. Uliana Kitar-Stephanie Menoutis (Warwick) 7-5, 6-4.
Semifinals: Dratch-Harris (Valley Central) d. Kitar Menoutis (Warwick) 5-7, 6-4, 6-3; Grundfast-Ghobadian (Warwick) d. Blumenschein-Nielsen (Cornwall) 6-0, 6-4.
