New Paltz senior quarterback Jimmy Verney was driven to finish his high school football career as a winner.
Verney said he was already missing football after New Paltz’s season ended in the Section 9 Class B championship.
The 2016 Varsity 845 player of the year certainly made the most of his last snaps wearing a New Paltz helmet. Verney rushed for more than 100 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown, and threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Monroe-Woodbury’s Kenny Hernandez in a 35-6 win for the National team.

American
Middletown’s Evan Roberts had four sacks, an 31-yard interception return for a touchdown and a tackle for loss.
Valley Central linebacker Connor Perzioso had a fumble recovery.
Rondout Valley’s Spencer Sands had five catches.
Warwick’s Dan McNally recorded a sack.
National
Monroe-Woodbury’s Jermain Veras picked off Port Jervis’ Brandon Roesch on the game’s first play.
Minisink Valley’s Dom Vetrano made a one-handed interception in the end zone and recovered a fumble on a muffed punt return.
Monroe-Woodbury’s Owen Chambers had an interception and a fumble recovery.
Cornwall’s Jack Strohmeier recovered a fumble and recorded a sack.
Liberty’s Roy Penn-Cosentino had a 40-yard run on National’s first play and finished off scoring with a 6-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
