2018 Eastern States Classic semifinal, quarterfinal results

Minisink Valley senior Joey Yanis was denied a place in the 182-pound final, dropping an 8-5 decision to Horace Greeley’s Jacob Ferreira.

Yanis recorded his 100th win with a second-period pin in the Eastern States Classic 182-pound quarterfinals.

Yanis defeated Odean Gray of Grand Street Campus in 3:56. He is the only Section 9 wrestler alive in the semifinals.

Monroe-Woodbury junior Marco Vespa scored the first takedown in his 120-pound quarterfinal against returning Connecticut state champion Ryan Jack of Danbury.

Jack prevent Vespa from scoring another point in the match, recording a 9-2 win.

Minisink Valley senior Dom Vetrano, the No. 11 seed, gave third-seeded Anthony Sobotker all he could handle in a 138-pound quarterfinal. Sobotker prevailed 10-7. For match video, scroll below.
