Dior Johnson’s next chapter? Montverde Academy

Saugerties eighth grader sensation Dior Johnson announced on social media Tuesday that he will be attending Montverde (Fla.) Academy and continuing his prep basketball career.

Told later Tuesday afternoon that Johnson’s decision is not final.

Johnson’s potential final game at Saugerties was one of the best Section 9 finals in recent memory. Johnson poured in 39 points as New Paltz slipped by Saugerties 78-77 in three overtimes for the Class A title.

Last month, Johnson, who is listed at 5-foot-11, became the youngest player in New York state to score 1,000 points. The 14-year-old finishes his second-year career at Saugerties with an astounding 1,098 points.
