Newburgh Free Academy, Middletown to play in Slam Dunk tourney

The Newburgh Free and Middletown boys basketball teams will compete in the four-day Slam Dunk tournament in December at Westchester County Center in White Plains.

Newburgh Free Academy opens with White Plains on Dec. 19 at 6:15 p.m. in a four-team bracket with Iona Prep and Byram Hills. The Goldbacks return leading scorers Zach Barnes and Caleb Simmons.

Middletown meets Horace Greeley in a challenge game on Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. Middletown senior guard Marquis Gill is expected to be one of the area’s top scorers.
