Girls cross country: Cornwall wins state title

The Cornwall High School girls cross country team won the state Class B championship with a 62-68 decision over Section 1 champion John Jay-Cross River. Eighth-grader Karrie Baloga led the way with a third-place finish for the Dragons.
It is the 14th state title for a Section 9 girls team, the first since 1994 and the first for Cornwall – the Dragons had placed second in 2014 and third in 2005.
