Monroe-Woodbury hires James Sciarra as football coach

James Sciarra was approved as Monroe-Woodbury new football coach at Board of Education meeting Wednesday night.

Sciarra, who was the head coach at Warwick from 2006-12, was a Monroe-Woodbury assistant from 2013-15. He has spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Burke Catholic.

Warwick advanced to two Section 9 Class AA finals under Sciarra in 2009 and 2011.

Sciarra replaces Ryan Baldock, who left Monroe-Woodbury after three years to take the Cornwall head coaching position.

Monroe-Woodbury is seeking its first section Class AA title since 2013.
