2020 Friends of Section 9 Wrestling Awards

Pine Bush’s Tommy Askey was honored by Friends of Section 9 Wrestling as its Troy Bouzakis Senior Wrestler of the Year.

Askey captured Pine Bush’s first state title since Bouzakis in 1990. He finished the season with a 41-0 record.

Marlboro senior John Antonelli earned the Officials Sportstmanship Award. Minisink Valley seniors Sean Savacool and JC Cabrera received the Dave Simmons Courageous Wrestler Award and Comeback Wrestler of Year Award.

Savacool competed with a knee injury throughout the season and captured his second straight Section 9 Division I title.

Cabrera returned to wrestling after an absence to win the Section 9 Division I 220-pound title.

Middletown senior Josh Sam received the Pat D’Aliso Scholarship.
