River Day schedule, hour by hour

The Hudson River Maritime Museum, 50 Rondout Landing, Kingston,  has released the hourly schedule for River Day on June 10:

KINGSTON’S “HUDSON RIVER DAY”

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

5:00 pm         Shuttle Bus begins running from Kingston Point Beach to the Rondout to accommodate                              remote parking.  [Shuttles will run throughout the evening from 5 11 p.m.]

           

Kingston’s “Hudson River Day” BEGINS — Free Admission to the Museum from 5 – 7:30 p.m. and to the evening’s festivities

 

5:05-5:35 pm                       “Sea Shanty Singers” perform                                                    HRMM Gazebo

 

6:00 – 7:15 pm         “Kingston High School Jazz Ensemble” perform                               HRMM Gazebo

                                   

6:30 pm         Heritage vessels are “scheduled” to begin arriving.  Cannon salutes, church bells, steam whistles will signal their arrival.  Historic airplanes from the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome will do fly-overs.  The first vessel into Rondout Creek will be the replica of the “Half Moon”, followed by the “Clearwater” and the newly built replica of the “Onrust”.  Other vessels will follow.

 

7:15 pm         Docking of all heritage vessels complete @ HRMM docks & HKWM docks

                                                           

7:20 pm         Welcoming Ceremonies/Presentation by Kingston Mayor James Sottile                      HRMM Yard

                       

7:45 pm         Internationally acclaimed acoustic musicians Jay Ungar and Molly Mason take stage                                                                                                                                                                          HRMM Yard

8:00 pm         WAMC Northeast Public Radio Commentator introduces the broadcast

 

8:06 pm         LIVE broadcasting begins of WAMC’s “Dancing on the Air with Jay and Molly”.  Special guests include Nanne Kalma & Ankie van der Meer and The Barefoot Boys                                               HRMM Yard 

9:58 pm                     Program ends

 

11:00 pm                  LAST Shuttle runs to Kingston Point Beach     

 

NOTES:  

1.         The evening’s events are FREE and open to the public as part of the 2009 Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial Celebration. 

2.         Festival attendees will not be allowed on the docks or bulkhead for safety reasons.

3.         Festival attendees should bring blankets and/or portable chairs; cameras and binoculars are  suggested. 

4.         Please leave your pets at home; the loud noises and crowds will not be suitable for them.
