Marist men draw West Virginia in Old Spice Classic

The Marist men’s basketball team will open the Old Spice Classic with NCAA tournament participant West Virginia on Thanksgiving day at noon in Orlando, Fla. The Red Foxes and Mountaineers, a new member of the Big 12 after moving from the Big East, have never met previously.
Marist will face either Vanderbilt or Davidson in the second round on Friday, in a 12:30 p.m. semifinal or 3 p.m. consolation. The final game on Sunday will come against either Oklahoma, Clemson, Gonzaga or Texas El Paso.
The Old Spice Classic is a creation of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference so a MAAC school is always represented in the elite field. Marist played in the inaugural event in November 2006, placing third with wins over Minnesota and Western Michigan.
