SUNY Sullivan wrestling update

SUNY Sullivan’s first wrestling team is starting to take shape.

Coach Jared Kahmar said 15 wrestlers are in the process of enrolling into the junior college in Loch Sheldrake.

In a few short weeks, Kahmar has recruited a solid class including two-time Section 9 champion Richard Dennison, a 2011 Minisink Valley graduate.

Kingston’s Deon Edmond, a two-time section champion, will wrestle for Sullivan.

Liberty’s Andy Martinez, a three-time section Division II champion, has already enrolled at Sullivan, Kahmar said.

Other wrestlers going through the enrollment process include Richie Mann (Cornwall); Eddie Donohue (Middletown), Pat Sause (Pine Bush), Paul Gomez (Monticello).

Kahmar, a former coach at Port Jervis High, said preseason practice will start on Sept. 1
