Butler two wins away from Div. II national title

Lindenwood junior 285-pounder Steven Butler, a 2009 Port Jervis graduate, recorded two win by pin on the first day of the NCAA Division II championships Friday in Cleveland.

Butler (20-1) dropped UNC-Pembroke’s Chris Giddens in 54 seconds in the first round. He defeated Ashland’s Tyler Houska by fall in 5:41 in a quarterfinal.

He will face undefeated Ziad Haddard (26-0) of Kutztown in a semifinal Saturday.
