Newburgh Free Academy graduate and former UConn football captain Mikal Myers has been hired by Maine as its outside linebackers coach.
Myers, 24, was a defensive graduate assistant, coaching linebackers, during the 2018 season at Division II American International College. He started all 12 games at defensive tackle during his senior season for UConn in 2016. Myers finished his college career with 112 tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss.
“Coach Myers just recently finished an exceptional playing career at UConn and already has coaching experience after a year at AIC,” Maine coach Nick Charlton said in a press release. “He will bring tremendous energy and expertise, while leading our outside linebackers.”
