Marist football picked for sixth in Pioneer League
Marist College was voted to place sixth out of 10 teams in the Pioneer Football League this season. The preseason coaches poll was released Monday. Marist was 7-4 and 5-3 in its inaugural season in the PFL in 2009, good for fifth place.

Former Army hockey coach Rob Riley signs with AHL team
Former Army hockey coach Rob Riley was named the head coach of the Springfield (Mass.) Falcons of the American Hockey League. The Falcons are a farm team of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Riley, 55, spent the past four seasons as a part-time scout with the Blue Jackets while working at a financial job.

Army hockey schedule announced
Army’s non-league ice hockey schedule includes dates with Colgate, Massachusetts, Union, Merrimack, Harvard and Ohio State. The Black Knights open with Colgate in Cape Cod, Mass., on Oct. 9, and play the Raiders again at West Point on Dec. 4. Army volleyball faces challenging early season schedule
A veteran Army volleyball team will compete in two challenging tournaments in early September, highlighting a 31-match regular-season schedule.

Ulster’s Chris Ferraro leads national golf finals
Chris Ferraro of SUNY Ulster leads the best junior college Division III golfers by two strokes following the first round of the championships being held in upstate Chautauqua.
Ferraro carded a 34-36–70 on the par-72 course. He is the only golfer to fire an under-par round.
