Results: Stoltz ties for 5th at State Open

John Stoltz turned in his best finish at State Open.

Stoltz, a 2002 Minisink Valley graduate, tied for fifth at 1-under (212) Thursday at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale. His previous best was a tie for ninth in 2008.

Stoltz shot a 1-over 72 in the third and final round.

Jeb Buchanan of Schuyler Meadows won the tournament in a playoff at 6-under.

Chris DeForest, a 2007 Rondout Valley graduate, tied for 14th (74-68-73-215).

Chris Ferraro, a 2008 Kingston graduate, tied for 35th (73-74-75) and Jeff Schaller, a 2009 Kingston graduate, tied for 60th (73-75-81-229).
