Lane wins first Herdegen title

Woodstock’s Justin Lane, 16, birdied two of the last three holes to hold off Kingston’s John Garcia and captured his first Ulster County Men’s Amateur (The Herdegen) title by three strokes at Apple Greens Golf Course in Highland.

Lane shot a final-round, 2-over 73 for a 54-hole score of 8-over 223. Garcia had a 4-over 75 and finished second with a 11-over 226. Three-time champion Doug Kleeschulte carded a 3-over 74 and placed third (13-over 228).
