Results: DeForest qualifies for Met Am

Cottekill’s Ethan DeForest, a 2014 Rondout Valley graduate, fired a 1-over-par 73 Tuesday at West Hills Country Club in Middletown to advance to the Met Amateur.

DeForest, who tied for third place, made a 10-foot putt for eagle on the par-5, second hole.

The top four plus ties advanced to the Met Amateur on August 4-7 at the Country Club of Fairfield (Conn.).

Devlin Walsh, an Ellenville graduate, missed the cut by one stroke. Walsh carded a 2-over 74, which included four birdies. Glen Spey’s David Powers, a 2016 Eldred graduate, tied for 11th with a 4-over 76. Powers eagled the par-5, 10th hole.
