Three Section 9 boys’ hoop teams invade Beacon
Beacon High School is hosting a girls’ and a boys’ basketball tournament this weekend, the Terrence Wright Memorial.
The girls’ event starts Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. as Beacon faces Roy C. Ketcham, followed by the John Jay-East Fishkill vs. John Jay-Cross River contest.

Cornwall jumper prominent in state track rankings
The first state indoor track rankings of the season has been released.
Cornwall’s Kelsey Branch is the top pole vaulter and also ranks eighth in the long jump. Nicole Rozario of Pine Bush ranks second in the 1,500-meter run. Ashley Grant of Monroe-Woodbury ranks sixth in the high jump.

Warwick girls, boys finish 11th at Nike Nationals
The Warwick Valley girls’ and boys’ cross country teams each placed 11th in the Nike Team Nationals race in Portland, Ore.
Under snowy and very soggy conditions, Tori Pennings closed her outstanding cross country career with a 14th-place finish and Lillian Greibesland was 24th. Mike Fox led the tight Warwick boys’ finish in 40th place.
