Middletown hoop tourney undergoes change
The Middletown Holiday Basketball tournament has been altered since one of the intended participants had to pull out.
The boys’ tourney starts Friday night with Ramapo facing Murray Bergtram from New York in a 7 p.m. semifinal contest. Host Middletown draws a bye into the finals.
On Saturday, Liberty has agreed to fill in as the fourth team and will play Friday’s loser in the 12 p.m. consolation game. Middletown will face Friday’s winner in the 2 p.m. title contest.
The girls’ tourney will be held Dec. 27-28. On the first afternoon, Washingtonville will face John S. Burke Catholic in the noon contest, followed by Middletown hosting Francis Lewis from Brooklyn at 2 p.m. The consolation (noon) and championship (2 p.m.) will be played the following day.
